It’s time to RELAX… if you can remember what that word means.
Stressed out? With the way things are today, I guess I really don’t need to ask that question. However, there are some ways to help calm yourself down enough to get the things you need to get done… done.
The first step to relaxing is to avoid things that are stressing you out. These could be anything from a person, to a situation, or even a psychological thriller that’s making you sweat.
The next step is to find ways of releasing your stress. Meditation, massage, and exercise are all great ways of doing this.
3 ways millions of people give themselves some “me” time:
1. Breathe in deeply for five seconds, then breathe out for five seconds. Repeat this process for a few minutes and feel the tension leaving your body.
2. Stretch your muscles by doing a series of simple yoga poses or stretches (easy to find on Google).
3. Take a hot bath with Epsom salts and lavender oil to help you relax and relieve muscle tension, or use aromatherapy to soothe your senses with lavender, eucalyptus, or chamomile oils.
I’m not saying I’m a pro at this…
What I can say for sure is: one thing that helps calm me down is loving on Nikki (see below). Petting one’s fur baby has proven to lower blood pressure and heart rate. I’m thinking about gluing her to my side so I always have her there to calm me down.
Read or have a lazy day just staying home doing things that don’t include cleaning house.
I hear you on that one!
Cruise! Leaving Sunday for a week. Booked in 2019 for March 2020. We all know how that went….
Enjoy!!! Should be a great (and relaxing) time… two years in the making. 😉
Play with my dogs or read
No doubt, Margie. Dogs and books. Books and dogs. They’re like taking a deep breath.
This is just a bit different…..I always have my head full of negative thoughts concerning a part of my life. The latest I did to try to get it out of my head was (not consciously) saying supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in my head to clear it of the constant negative thoughts.
That’s known as “mindfulness”, Mitzi – keeping thoughts out of the past or future and in the present. It’s a great way to “get out of your head”. There are so many ways to live in the moment and try to relax. Google “mindfulness” and find a whole new world. 🙂
When stressed what better than the feel of a good thriller
A double-edged sword, I guess, Mel. I love to be in suspense, if it doesn’t stress me out too much. I once watched a movie called, “Vacancy”. Stressed me out so much I had to press PAUSE to breathe. You’d think I’d give up on it. No, pressed PLAY and continued til the end. The best part was the RELAXATION I felt when it was over. So I’m thinking I got the best of both worlds.
I relax reading my kindle and watching judge judy
Kimberly, I LOVE the Judge!! She makes me laugh, which is, in and of itself, a great way to relax. Notice how the body opens up when you laugh and contracts when you’re stressed? I’m learning that from a new app called “Unwinding Anxiety”. It’s great stuff – especially when I need to be mindful when I write.
